About Us

The Inksetter Family has been farming in the Hamilton Area for over 200 years, and in 1965, we planted the orchards that started a new family endeavour. Originally a pick-your-own operation, our orchard has grown to include a Bakery and Gourmet Food Market, and still we pride ourselves on having one of the BEST pick-your-own orchards in the area.

Carluke Orchards has remained a family operation, we’re on our 3rd generation growing apples here in Carluke.

Our store is open 11 months of the year, from February 1st to December 24th, and EVERYTHING we sell in our store is made in Canada. You can find a wide variety of gourmet foods, and tons of local products.

All of our baked goods are made right here, from scratch, using high quality ingredients. We specialize in pies, butter tarts, scones and more in many different flavours!

Our History

The Inksetter Family has been farming in the area for over 200 years. In 1961, Robert and Marion Inksetter moved to their property on Shaver Rd in Ancaster, Ontario.

One day in 1965 when Marion was in the hospital giving birth to their third child, Robert planted the orchard. When Marion came home there were acres of apple trees.

In the mid-seventies, Marion started baking pies with their apples and selling them from a small stand at the end of their farm lane. This farm stand functioned under an honor system.

As things began to pick up, it was time to expand the operation. In 1984, Marion applied for a bakery license and they built the first bake shop with a small storefront.

In 1991, Robert and Marion's oldest son, Alan, left his job at Stelco and bought the family farm. It was time to add a kitchen large enough to accommodate the ever-growing demand, and in 1993 production was up and running with a beautiful new storefront full of local products.

Now in 2026, we are still in that storefront baking many of Marion's original recipes from scratch. The legacy is carried on by Marion and Robert’s granddaughter Michelle and she has been quality testing her whole life
