Spartan

Good for Baking, Eating, and Applesauce

These apples are a sweet-tart cross of a McIntosh apple. They have an attractive deep red colouring, and very crisp flech.

Unlike their McIntosh parentage, Spartan store very well and stay firm in the fridge for weeks.

They were developed in BC in the 1920s and were the first apple variety released from a formal scientific breeding program in Canada.
